Cable network engineering
MGS Montage GmbH Stralsund carries out the design and planning work for all necessary cable ducts on board a ship and defines the necessary dimensions, including CAD engineering and the coordination of the relevant cable runs with the ship structures, the piping and other equipment.
Based upon installation plans / cable plans we are engineering the ship’s cable network. All required material lists, cable cutting lists and cable pull lists are generated by our own cable network engineering software.
Tailored cables are cut by computer-aided machines and expediently bundled to meet the technological requirements of the installation process but also to remain adjustable for future changes of the on board conditions.
Electrical installation
We are mounting the required cable runs and are adjusting auxiliary cable runs to the local circumstances whenever necessary. Coordinated CAD assembly drawings are used to install the electrical equipment. Supports for the various electrical equipments and electrical systems are manufactured in our workshop and mounted on board.
Our skilled electricians are connecting all electrical units based upon the manufacturers’ documentation.
Testing and Commissioning
Testing and commissioning of the electrical and electronic equipments and systems is carried out by our electricians with support of the commissioning engineers of STN Schiffselektrik or other suppliers. The equipments and systems are thoroughly tested according to the suppliers’ and the shipyard’s specifications (testing programs), both at harbour and at sea.
Once the equipments and systems have passed the tests, they are handed over to the supervisors of the owner and the classification society in close collaboration with the shipyard. At the same time we are training the ship’s crew to make them familiar with the new systems on board.
